LOOKING FOR OPTIONS AFTER TENTH?

Just come out successfully from school? You are groping in dark not able to choose a best course for yourself. Here we are giving you a multiple opportunities staring in you to pursue higher education. Parents are invited to peruse the list of courses available to choose a best one for their children in tune with their aptitude.

Whatever be your choice, avenues for you plenty for talented. You could be one of them. Here is a catalogue of courses for you to chose from among them.
Regular Intermediate
The Board of Intermediate Education, established by the Andhra Pradesh Government, is promoting the vision of world-class education in the State by giving dynamic leadership and ensuring support and services. Its aim is to facilitate continuous promotion of quality education. The courses the Board is offering are intended to provide curriculum to help students to pursue higher studies.

Intermediate education is imparted to students through various institutions. The educational institutions are both in public and private sector, besides residential mode. There are aided and unaided educational institutions to cater to the needs of vast number of students.

Residential Education:
The Andhra Pradesh Government has entrusted the responsibility of imparting Residential education to Andhra Pradesh Residential Educational Institutions Society, Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institution Society and Backward Classes Welfare Department. The Government has established the Residential Colleges to help the students from socially and economically backward classes to have excellent education on a par with their counterparts in private institution.
Following are residential education institutions in the State:

Andhra Pradesh Residential Educational Institution Society ( APREIS ) :

AP Residential Junior College: As many as nine residential junior colleges in the State. Admission in three of them are made through Common Entrance Test and six of them are open for pupils from the Andhra Pradesh Residential Schools Society located in their respective regions.
Eligibility:
Eligibility for admission in three residential colleges for various categories are fixed. The OC students are required to obtain 60% marks, BC-45% and no minimum percentage of marks are fixed for the SC and ST students.

Admissions in the remaining six residential colleges are made through entrance test - APRJC

Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (APSWREIS ) :
Andhra Pradesh is the only State in the country to continue to provide residential education at +2 level to the children belonging to the Scheduled Classes and other weaker sections.

Apart from it, EAMCET coaching is also given in 46 institutions in the State. Two such institutions, one for boys and another for girls, have been established in each district.

Admission procedure:
Eligibility for admission is determined on the basis of merit in APSWREIS at junior Intermediate level.

BC Welfare Department:
The State government created the department to specifically focus on the welfare and development of BCs in the State.
In order to facilitate social integration, the government has fixed quota for each hostel. As per the norms, each hostel has 76% Backward Classes, 10% Scheduled Castes, 5%  Scheduled Tribes and 6% other students, besides 3% minorities.

Technical Education
Andhra Pradesh State Board of Technical Education is offering a number of diploma courses on regular basis in Engineering, non-engineering and also through certificate courses.

Admission process:
The State Board of Technical Education and Training is conducting ‘Common Entrance Examination’ every year for admission into Polytechnics-CEEP for the student seeking admission into all diploma courses in engineering and non-engineering, besides technology courses being offered in all the polytechnics, including those aided and unaided.

As many as four private aided and 34 unaided private unaided polytechnics are affiliated to the Board. Apart from them, there are 65 government institutions which are also affiliated to the Board

Future scope:
The student who successfully completed  diploma courses in polytechnic colleges are eligible for admission into various engineering course at second year level. This is one of the advantages these students have by pursuing the polytechnic diploma courses. As well as  they can be joined as assistant engineers in both public and private sector.

Vocational  Education
Vocational Education provides the students with a pathway to employment through their development of specialized knowledge and saleable skills. This gives emphasis mainly to the development of basic manipulative skills, technical knowledge and occupational information.

Vocational courses provided through collaborative arrangements with the relevant professional institutions give lots of emphasis on on-the-job training. These valuable methods bridge the gaps between Institution and employment and give the student the opportunity to earn while learning.

The major objective of each course is to provide student an opportunity to acquire functional skills, desirable work habits that will enable them to be the productive members of the community and society.

The successful students can also transform themselves into self-employed entrepreneurs. The government has also announced incentives for the self-employed entrepreneurs by way of loans at low interest loans through banks. In fact, the government is considering a proposal to ensure that the self-employed entrepreneurs secure loans at the rate of 0.25%

Paramedical Education
The continuous expansion of the health care industry brings with a growing demand for trained paramedical professionals. In order to cater to this demand, the field of paramedical education with the introduction of Diploma courses in subjects  such as Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Physiotherapy, First Aid, Hygiene & Sanitation, Family Welfare & Population education, Electro Cardiogram Technology, and Medical Radiographic (x-ray) Technology.  Courses have also been introduced in Dental Sciences (alternative) and Veterinary Medicine (alternative). 

The courses are offered through regular mode of teaching and supplemented by an intensive and rigorous practical training that equips the students with knowledge of the latest techniques and trends so that on completion they can emerge as fully trained and confident professionals.

How to Choose a Course :
Selection of a course is as important as choosing a right college at post metric level.

Parents are advised to leave the decision making to their wards in choosing a course as well as college though they may counsel their children on the pathway for them.

Parents are required to encourage their children to choose a subject basing on their Aptitude, academic strength and intrest.

Students are required to have a clear understanding of their aspirations and emerging opportunities

Family background on monetary considerations may be taken in to consideration while selecting a course and how best the available resources can be utilized fully to reach to full potentiality.
