Pick up tricks for EAMCET / AIEEE
Posted on : 12-05-2010 - Author : Our Correspondent

If you are preparing for the common entrance examination such as EAMCET (Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test), you certainly have little time left with you. You cannot take lessons afresh, which you have ignored in your Intermediate classes.

Occasionally, you skip some lessons or chapters when they appear difficult or boring. Some topics look unimportant. In that case, be choosy and look for such subjects in which you have a thorough knowledge.

If you have no time to practice, you can simply pick the previous three years’ question papers. Whether you have set EAMCET or IIT-JEE as your goal, your preparations must match the course you are aspiring for. Please select the question banks or practice books from your street corner book store.

Whatever professional college you are seeking admission to—engineering, medical, pharmacy, biotechnology, veterinary etc— whether private or government college, you need to remember one thing that there is no need to study round-the-clock.

However, make sure that you are touching every topic, focusing on formulas and problems.

Make a daily schedule in a notebook and allot time for each topic. Questions appearing in EAMCET/IIT-JEE touch almost all topics and thus you need to have a thorough knowledge of the basic concepts rather than the formulas. Spend time on textbooks, reading every point of the page.

Write or underline major topics and points. Note down and practice questions and problems that involve various formulas. If you are going to a private coaching centre, take out question papers and test papers and revise them all.

It is well-known that EAMCET is convened by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) on behalf of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher education.  For all B.Tech/B.E. courses (except B.Tech-Biotechnology), B.Pharma (MPC) & B.Sc (Commercial Agriculture & Business Management), the entrance test is common. It comprises questions on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. More than 311,355 students from across the state took EAMCET engineering and 65,357 medical stream in 2009. Hence the competition is quite tough.

As far as the qualification criteria goes, a candidate must have cleared Class XII exams with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. For Engineering & Pharmacy courses candidates need to have completed 16 years of age.

Candidates opting for other courses this year should be between 17 and 25 years of age as on December 31, 2010. EAMCET is open to candidates hailing from Andhra Pradesh.

The test is scheduled to be conducted on May 30, 2010. There is a 10% reservation for non-locals, both in government as well as in private colleges. Also, there is no upper age limit for the engineering stream but for medical the upper age is 22.

There are many websites which provide the candidate with comprehensive information and material for EAMCET. The guidelines are free of cost and some are also paid for. Although online information is extensive, you can have them in your textbooks and reference books as well.

Hence, you must treat the information you get from Internet as reference material and concentrate on books and guides. What you must bear in mind is EAMCET is a competitive examination and the admission to a medical or an engineering seat depends on the rank you obtain in it.

Information on counselling and schedules of the examination appear in all leading national newspapers and on the Internet. Simply appear for the counseling sessions and try your chances. Even if you got a big rank, please do not get discouraged, you may still get an admission. However, if you get a good rank, you may get the opportunity of being called first.
Similarly, All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE 2010) for admissions to B.E, B.Tech. and B.Arch/B.Planning in national institutes like NITs, IIITs, deemed universities, government-aided institutions would be held on April 25, 2010 all over India.

This two-part exams would be held (for B.E./B.Tech) from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and for B.Arch/B.Planning from 2 pm to 5 pm. The response to the online registrations was overwhelming (through CBSC website www.cbsc.nic.in or www.aieee.nic.in). Application process for AIEEE 2010 commenced on Nov 17, 2009 and closed on Dec 31, 2009.
