Yawn…. I have gotta do this for all the lazy ones out there… with great difficulty I dragged my feet to my desk and here I go...clickkity clickkity clickkk….
“I have to admit, I’m a lazy person!” This is a common phrase you come across in your day to day life. Lazy? In what sense?? Some people are born intellectuals but are lazy to showcase their excellence. “Oh well, who’s going to bother, anyways?” they brush things aside. Now here’s what you relate with “STARTING TROUBLE”
This is the case where once the going gets started there is no end to the hyperactivity! Some people are born lazy… Wonder what if they ever felt too lazy to be born!!
There are many factors of laziness… like some people are lazy out of ignorance, they don’t bother to learn or rather, feel too lazy to learn. They pose their ignorance in the mask of laziness.
What is laziness? It is a state of idleness and inner resistance to exerting effort and acting. It is a state of passivity and of letting things stay as they are. Sometimes we enjoy being a little lazy, such as after working hard for several hours, or on a very cold or warm day, but if this state occurs too often, something has to be done about it.
I think you wouldn’t bother to learn about laziness, but then for those who have decided to give it a chance….this one is for y’all. If you think laziness is a bad habit, think again, for health experts claim it's "a disease". Physical inactivity should be classed as "disease in its own right" — this is because as the link between inactivity and poor health is so strong. Given the significant associated mortality and morbidity, and perhaps physical inactivity should also be considered for recognition as a disease in its own right.
Being Lazy means the lack of drive to work, the lack of desire and commitment to start taking action on something. Laziness is definitely one of the biggest sins of mankind. What determines success or failure is action and if you are lazy you know, you never take action and you are bound to fail. Is laziness a disease? Not really, probably can be considered as a mental disease and any mental disease you have absolute control to overcome. You don’t need a prescription from a doctor to be away from it.
I believe that being Lazy is a CHOICE. Its about what you want to do and what you do not. Say if I want you to move away from your chair and start doing some work outside. If I tell you there is something interesting that is waiting for you outside, you might not be all that excited and motivated to go out. However if I were to tell you, there is a Fire in the building the next moment you start running to save your life.
If you want to stop being lazy first reawaken that hidden fire in you. Fire comes out of a purpose. Why? If you were to clean your room and you wonder why should I, the fire is missing and if you have a good reason for WHY? then you start doing it. The fire is, knowing the answer WHY?
In order to perform our chores and work efficiently, and to live a full, active and successful life, we must learn how to overcome laziness.
OVERCOMING LAZINESS
We often avoid tasks because we find them too big, too overwhelming, too tiring or taking too much of our time. Breaking a task into several smaller tasks can solve this problem. Then each one will not seem so difficult or unapproachable. Instead of having one big task, we will have a series of small tasks, which do not require too much effort. This approach can be applied not only to tasks, but also to goals and everything else we have or need to do. This will tend to melt much of the laziness and inner resistance we often experience.
In some cases, laziness is due to being tired and lacking energy. If this is true in your case, you need to give yourself the rest and sleep you need, and also give your body enough exercise and fresh air.
In some cases, the reason for laziness is due to lack of motivation. You can strengthen your motivation through affirmations, visualisation and thinking about the importance of performing your task or chore or achieving your goal.
Frequently reflecting on the person we want to be, the goals we want to achieve, and the life we want to live, can motivate us to act.
Think about the benefits you will gain if you overcome your laziness and take action, instead of thinking about the difficulties or obstacles. Focusing on the difficulties of the task or action lead to discouragement, avoidance of taking action and to laziness. It is important that you focus your mind and attention on the benefits, not on the difficulties.
Think about what will happen, if you surrender to laziness, and don't perform your task or chore. Thinking about the consequences, if you do not act, can also push you to take action.
Focus on doing one thing at a time. If you feel you have a lot to do, you will probably feel overwhelmed and let laziness overcome you, instead of you overcoming laziness.
Your imagination has a great influence on your mind, habits and action. Visualize yourself performing the task easily, energetically and enthusiastically. Do so before starting with a task or goal, and also when you feel lazy, or when your mind whispers you to abandon what you are doing.
Tell yourself, "I can accomplish my goal."
"I have the energy and motivation to act and do whatever I want or have to do."
"Doing things makes me stronger."
"Doing things makes things happen."
Consider each task as an exercise to make you stronger, more decisive and more assertive.
Avoid procrastination, which is a form of laziness. If there is something you have to do, why not do it right now and get through with it? Why let it stay nagging at the back of your head?
Watch successful people, and how they do not let laziness win. Learn from them, talk with them and associate with them.
Overcoming the habit of laziness is achieved through a series of daily actions and activities, when you choose to act, instead of remaining passive. Every time you overcome your laziness you get stronger. Every time you choose to act, you increase your ability to win, achieve goals and improve your life.
Laziness is not inherited, it is not a disease, it is probably infectious, and it does not stay with someone all the time. If needed you would still run away from the place you are. So Laziness is not an inherent property of a person. It is a property that is chosen.
Make the best choice. Stop being lazy…
