Leadership is about Connecting People with Human Values and not Dominating Them. Think It Over?
Posted on : 16-03-2012 - Author : Dr. G. Babu Rao

Dear friends,
As the leaders in the field of education in the knowledge era, the principals, professors and the teachers all through will have to develop passion for teaching with a change in approach to ; ‘learning that facilitates learning’ . One has to be a dedicated learner and a practitioner with commitment to connect the ‘education, learner, and the society of work’
. This requires a holistic approach of ‘whole some development’ of individuals with concern for the society and the right human values. We need to work on them with all humility and efforts of connecting our students / learners with affection and love instead of adopting a ‘big boss’ approach of domination. The style of domination and commanding leadership will work on the battle field but definitely not in the class rooms/ educational institutions. Shun the approach of ; ‘ I tell , you obey’ attitude and adopt ‘together we win’ style of working. Integrated learning is what we aim and attempt to practice in all the educational institutions involving every one in the system on the principles of ‘total quality management’. This is only possible through approach of compassion and concern and not on command and dominance.
Every one will have to take lead in inculcating the team work in the system that can generate quality products. Be trusting and connecting every body with every thing using humour and natural smiles . Fantastic results produced in the world through the adoption of a positive approach towards the fellow beings. We need to think of developing the management systems in every institution based on ‘human values’. We will have to strive hard to work with people with all the harmony and togetherness and continue the journey to progress and prosperity. Developing Human Resources in the institution with human values should be our top priority. We need to practice a behaviour called “immediacy cues’ adopting an approach of warmth and openness as it facilitates people to come together for sharing  their thinking and doing with mutual cooperation and participation. It enables the people with different ideologies and cultures to perform effectively and efficiently.
We need to adopt a strategy of managing the institution with human values that connects and not dominates the people both; ‘within and outside’. Though, human Values are "inborn" qualities in every individual, Very few individuals work for others without any selfish interest Hence the need to develop people , with strong leadership qualities , love
for human beings, and self discipline in order to motivate others for the Industry or Society.
In the contextual world we see people exploiting each other and some persons enjoy getting exploited. To deliver results one must exploit and get exploited also for the sake of the society’s welfare. Is not it? ….. Think it over?
