MBBS - Bachelor Of Medicine & Bachelor Of Surgery

Medicine is one of the most sort out and rewarding career for those interested in Science and dealing with sick people Over the years, the field of medical studies have undergone various stages of development, it has become so vast that specializations within are increasing day by day. There is great scope for medicine as a professional career.

After MBBS, post graduate level studies (MD or MS) can be conducted and there are many specializations including General Medicine, General Surgery,Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT(Ear, Nose and Throat), Psychiatry, and Anesthesiology.

ELIGIBILITy CRITERIA
A candidate should have completed 17 years age by December 31, of the year of admission  Passed 12th standard exam individually in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Biology and Chemistry,(40% for SC/ST Candidates).

The admission norms differ across  universities. Normally Students who scored higher marks in the qualifying examination and in the Medical Entrance examinations conducted by various agencies get into MBBS course.

COURSE STRUCTuRE & SyLLABuS
The MBBS programme has a time period of 4 and ½ years. At the end of the course, students will have a mandatory internship of one year.
Details about the phases and the topics covered are:
• Pre-clinical 1 –2: Two semesters Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology
• Para-clinical 3 – 5 : Three Semesters Community Medicine; Forensic Medicine, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Clinical postings in wards, OPDs
• Clinical 6 – 9: Four Semesters Community Medicine, Medicine and allied subjects (Psychiatry, Dermatology); Obstetrics and gynecology; Pediatrics; Surgery and allied subjects (Anesthesiology, E.N.T.,Ophthalmology, Orthopedics); Clinical postings

INTERNSHIP
Students have to do internship, which is compulsorily. The total time period of Internship is one year. The posting details are given below:
Medicine - This specialty has the duration of 1 and a half months.
Surgery - This specialty has the duration of 1 and a half months
Rural - This specialty has the duration of three months
Pediatrics - This specialty has the duration of one month
Obstetrics and Gynecology - This specialty has the duration of one month
Casualty - This specialty has the duration of one month
Anesthesiology - This specialty has the duration of 15 days
Ophthalmology - This specialty has the duration of 15 days
Elective - This specialty has the duration of two months Some of the places where there is job scope for medical Professionals are as follows:
• Private Practice
• Private Hospitals/Government Hospitals
• Combined medical service examination conducted by the
• UPSC for vacancies in Indian Railways, Delhi Municipal Corporation Hospital etc.
* Obtain a job through various State Public Service Commissions recruit for state medical services in respective states.
• Empanelment in various Government, autonomous and Public Limited Companies.
A few illustrative examples could be service in Armed Forces, ESI, NTPC, and Coal India.

BDS BACHELOR Of DENTAL SuRGEON
Dentistry a lucrative profession is concerned with all health problems afflicting the mouth,teeth.
Dentists improve patients' appearance by using a wide variety of cosmetic dental procedure Dentists or dental surgeons provide surgical, medical and other forms of treatment for oral and dental disorders and diseases by examining teeth and mouth of the patients.
While pursuing the course, one learns about different aspects of dental science, which includes various forms of treatment including surgical procedure, Dental materials, Dental anatomy & Oral histology, Oral Pathology, Community Dentistry, Pedodontics, Oral Medicine & Radiology are some of the topics that are generally taught.

• Periodontics
• Oral Medicine (Oral Diagnosis) and Radiology

• Oral Medicine (Oral Diagnosis) and Radiology
• Pedodontics Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge

• Every candidate will be required, after passing the final BDS examination, to undergo one year paid rotating internship in a dental college.
SKILLS & KNOwLEDGE
Dentists need to have:
• Knowledge of the structure and function of the teeth, jaw and mouth
• Skill in assessing and diagnosing dental problems
• Understanding of the structure and functions of the body, and general injuries and diseases of the body, especially the head and neck
• Knowledge of injuries and diseases of the mouth
• Knowledge of dental methods, materials and medicines
• Knowledge of oral health care methods
• Knowledge of hygiene and sterilisation procedures
• First aid skills. Setting up private practice.
Working in Government/ Private institutions
Working as part/ full time faculty in reputed dental colleges and placement in the research and analysis wing of pharmaceutical / other companies producing oral products/ medicines etc.
Join Government/ Private detective services in field relating to forensic dentistry, whereby identity of a person is established by the structure of dentures.
Here are some duties performed by dentists:
• Orthodontists - straighten teeth using devices that apply pressure, i.e., braces and retainers.
• Oral and maxillofacial surgeons - operate on the mouth and jaws.
• Pediatric dentists - treat children.
• Periodontists treat gums and the bone supporting the teeth.
• Prosthodontists - replace missing teeth with dentures,bridges and crowns.
• Endodontists - perform root canal therapy.
• Oral pathologists - study oral diseases.

BAMS BACHELOR Of AyURVEDA MEDICINE SURGEON
The word “Ayurveda” is derived from two words ’Ayus’ meaning life and ‘Veda 'meaning ‘knowledge’ or ‘science’.
Hence, Ayurveda is ‘The Science of Life’
Ayurveda, the perfect science or knowledge of life is believed to be the oldest treatment method for treatment of several diseases
In Ayurveda, is basically a humoural medical system, diseases are understood as an imbalance between the body's three humors, Vata (nerve energy), Pitta (catabolic fire energy) and Kapha (anabolic nutritive energy).
Ayurvedic Education in India is presently monitored by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), a Statutory Central Government body.
ELIGIBILITy CRITERIA

BHMS BACHELOR Of HOMEOPATHIC MEDICAL SCIENCE
Homeopathy, from Greek homoeo (meaning  similar) and pathos (meaning suffering) is a system of medicine based on treating like with like.
Homeopathy - a method of treating disease with small amounts of remedies that, in large amounts in healthy people, produce symptoms similar to those being treated.
Homeopathy is a holistic medicine; in other words it aims to treat the whole person.
Aspiring homoeopathists must have an interest in people, an ability to consider and interpret available information and be good listeners and communicators A candidate should have completed 17 years age as on the December 31, of the year of admission.
Once you finish your 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% you are eligible to go for BHMS/DHMS courses.
