Finally the wait is over for admission to management quota seats. The Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) issued guidelines to this effect. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and the State Education Department have succeeded in making the admissions to the management quota seats as transparent as possible.
Under the present guidelines, the management seats have to be filled only on merit that makes the earlier admissions conducted by the private colleges invalid, clarified the Chairman of the Council Prof. P. Jaya Prakash Rao. “Merit will be protected keeping the fee aside,” he asserted.
Beginning September 12, students can apply online for management seats. All Engineering Colleges have to forward the students merit list to the APSCHE by September 24 for verification. The validated list will be displayed on the web portal on http://apsche.cgg.gov.in on September 28. If any discrepancies are found, colleges will be penalised.
In order to ensure that the students are admitted on merit, Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Raja Narsimha announced that the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC) will be granted legal powers to punish erring colleges. For the first time, the State Government has succeeded in making the private college managements accountable.
Reports appearing in the media state that some private college managements are upgrading their infrastructure, lab equipment and recruiting professors as per rules and regulations to escape the AFRC axe. Incase the AFRC identifies any inadequacies the private colleges have to change their fee structure.
This is the first time that the Government has taken such a long time to settle Admission guidelines to Engineering colleges. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, who was apprised of the management quota seats being already filled in, said that those colleges would have to follow the online mode and merit.
According to some reports it is learnt that more and more students are now opting for the management seats as there is no need to pay any donation. If they have merit the fee decided by the Government to that particular college will be final, which is the same as the convener quota fee.
But even after this there are apprehensions that some private colleges might approach the court questioning the stand of the Government on the management seats. It is now clear that the managements cannot manipulate the admissions any further. They have to stick to the merit and also to the fee decided by the Government.
The Selected candidates for EAMCET management quota seats will have to report to the college concerned before October 1. The second selection list against any unfilled management quota seats will be released on October 5. The final selection list has to be submitted to the APSCHE for ratification before October 20.
For admission into Engineering Management seats, the colleges must issue advertisements in the newspapers giving details of the courses offered with intakes under category-B. The schedule of admissions, registration fee for application, tuition fee and bank account details have to be uploaded on the APSCHE web portal. The details of the colleges will be available at http://apsche.cgg.gov.in for the students to submit online applications for category-B engineering seats.
