Student - Teacher Relationship
Posted on : 18-09-2008 - Author : K Ramanarao

Students may be more inclined to learn life-changing behaviors from someone they know and trust, that is where Teacher comes in their school personal life. Now a day’s attitude is everything, which is a must for one and all. It grooms, fine tune the student’s personality and presentation to prove as a potential citizen in the society, where student and teacher relationship plays a very important role, as most of the student life is spent in school along with teachers and they strongly believe them as well wishers of their personal career building.

“The actual person teaching makes a difference in how students learn. When there is a good relationship it really facilitates learning and motivation. And we found that in almost every area, the regular classroom teachers were more effective, they were better. Parents can learn and acquire more information about the student’s attitude and their future career plans from a teacher better, which is the relation they keep maintaining.

Strong student-teacher relationships have been linked to many positive outcomes, including better behavior in classrooms and improvement in learning. Because of the established relationship the regular classroom teachers have with their students, it may be easier for adolescents to talk to and learn from someone who already knows them as individuals. It is the teacher with whom the students spends more time, especially during school learning.

The relationship between the teacher and the student, particularly during adolescence, is very important. It is easier for the kids to talk about personal stuff with someone they knew. It is easier for them to absorb the material and become more interested in what they were talking about, with their regular teacher in the classroom.

In almost every category, the regular classroom teachers had more positive results. Students often expect to be tested more often by their regular teacher than by a temporary educator. As a result, they may be more motivated to learn the material, to achieve high grades in tests and examinations, and to appear knowledgeable during classroom discussions.

More importantly, students in classrooms led by their regular teachers value the course material more than others. Instead of simply hearing a lecture, students are motivated to pay attention by making them feel that what is said in the class offer important information.
When you have kids who simply memorize material for the test and two weeks later don’t remember any thing, you’re not getting anywhere. But if you can get the kids to care and learn that which the kids they think is important, then that’s something that will last a lifetime.

Regular classroom teachers are also perceived as more credible than their temporary counterparts. Students feel that their regular teachers are more knowledgeable, and so, like their regular teacher more. Students feel comfortable with these teachers and are able to joke around and laugh with the teachers, but also consider them more seriously when it comes to their career building. A teacher is ultimately a GURU. And guru is a guru, where we need to value and respect by paying high respectful regards to them with full gratitude for their remarkable efforts, contribution, services extended to students till date.

Student and teacher relationship should be more than a friendship and need to trust each other as the teacher is a well wisher and mentor for their ultimate career building. It should build TRUST among them and it should be STRONG forever where GRATITUDE is built. As said “Today students are tomorrow’s citizens”.
