Dr. K. Raghunath, Camp Officer, Engineering Admissions
Posted on : 11-07-2012

Understanding the web counseling process is very important for the students aspiring to join engineering and pharmacy courses as any wrong entry can have a disastrous effect on the outcome. Dr. K. Raghunath, Camp Officer, Engineering Admissions demystified the web counselling process for engineering and pharmacy courses and explained the procedure step by step.

Talking to us in detail Dr. K . Raghunath said the procedure of Web Counseling takes place in different stages. The first phase is, Registration where the Student will receive a Notification from the EAMCET Conveyor indicating the rank. The second phase is Certificate Registration followed by Option Entry, Allotment process and lastly Reporting at the College.

Raghunath said that there are 55 helpline centres across the state. He advised students to seek advice at any one of the centre’s which falls close to their place. Before reporting the student has be prepared to submit the SSC, 10+2, EMCET Hall ticket, EAMCET rank card, Community or Caste Certificate along the Income certificate and also special certificates like PH, NCC, Sports if any. On the scheduled day, the candidate has to go to the nearest helpline centre and submit the require documents as mentioned earlier and proceed for the verification.

The Techincal Officers appointed will verify the Education Documents whereas the Officers from Tribal Welfare and Social Welfare will cross check on the Caste certification. Once this is done, the candidates will be sent to a brief hall and will be guided on how to exercise the options. A Video pertaining to the List of Colleges and Course Codes will be displayed. The Students can then ask the concerned officers their doubts if any. In another option the students can check the list of colleges and various courses offered at their homes with the help of internet.

How to exercise Option seems to be the most important stage for the student and it is essential for one to maintain patience whilst doing so, Raghunath said. Option is nothing but selecting the course and college in which one wants to enroll. Before undergoing the briefing session the student is requested to do a thorough research on the various colleges and courses. The student gets a Manual option form. The form has a Options like College, Course and District codes. Raghunath asked the students to have word of advice from Elders, Friends who have knowledge about Engineering and the various streams available. By logging onto http://apeamcet.nic.in/ a student will get the list of colleges and the cut of rank for the last academic year. By using the last year’s Synopsys the student will be able to understand and get a rough idea of the availability of seats for this year, however the exercise is only for understanding and does not promise anything, Raghunath said.

Signing off with his message for students and parents, Mr. Raghunath said that they had received many complaints in the past, of middlemen luring students . They attained a ransom from the students on the behest of helping them secure a seat in the college of their choice, waving of fees and free hostel facilities, He asked students to stay away from middlemen and not disclose information pertaining to their rank, name etc which may lead to someone else creating a password and misusing it. Mr. Raghunath requested Parents not to force their opinion on Children and leave them at the liberty on deciding the course of their choice. ‘Parents should always be advisors and not decision makers’ Raghunath said.
