The State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET) will conduct “Common Entrance Examination for Admission into Polytechnics (CEEP-2008)” on April 30 for the candidates seeking admission into all Diploma Courses in Engineering / Non Engineering /Technology offered at Polytechnics/institutions (including Aided and Unaided Private Polytechnics/Institutions) in Andhra Pradesh State for the academic year 2008-2009.
Candidates should have passed, or compartmentally passed, or appearing SSC or its equivalent examination and also candidates belonging to C.B.S.E. and A.I.S.S.E. and other scheme of examinations recognised as equivalent to S.S.C. by the Board of Intermediate Education are also eligible to apply. The Candidates should have passed all the subjects who appear for the entrance test, pending result of their qualifying examination, their entry shall be subjected to their securing a pass in the said qualifying examination.
As many as 1.45 lakh students will sit for entrance test this year and the officials of CEEP concerned made all kind of arrangements to conduct it test on April 30 across the State. The Career Guide made elaborate discussions with the SBTET Secretary, P T Prabhakar to find out the arrangements of the CEEP-2008.
The Career Guide: Can you tell the arrangements to conduct CEEP-2008?
P T Prabhakar: We made all kind of arrangements to conduct Common Entrance Examination for Polytechnic (CEEP 2008). As many as 7,000 invigilators will be attended to the duties during the examination. Every day, the officials of the department of concerned monitor the situation on the arrangements.
TCG: How many students will be appeared?
A. This year, as many as 1, 45,000 students would appear for this CEEP-2008 across the State. Many students, who completes their SSC education are very eager apply its course to get admission into Polytechnic.
TCG: What was the response from the students this year for CEEP?
A. The CEEP-2008 had obtained tremendous response from the students. We received applications of students from mostly rural areas. We got more applications from Visakhapatnam district at 14,000 while Nizamabad district is in least receiving as many as 3,500 applications.
TCG: How the CEEP helpful for students to get better career in their lives?
A. After completes the course of SSC, the CEEP would better to get admission into polytechnic courses to padding the career these course. Instance, Even as students get fail in polytechnic courses, many private firms are ready to give job opportunities to them. It is demand for polytechnic students.
TCG: How many examination centres were deployed?
A. At least 370 examination centres were deployed for 1.45 lakh students to write the entrance examination across the State. To conduct exams at peaceful mode, the Board had constituted district level officers, who would monitor all centres under his jurisdiction in respective district.
TCG: how many seats are available for students to pursue polytechnic course in Andhra Pradesh?
A. Approximately 10, 722 seats are available in Government polytechnic colleges while 11,226 seats are offered from private colleges in Andhra Pradesh.
TCG: any plans to start new colleges in the State?
A. Well, we are planning to start 2 more polytechnic colleges and the cabinet also approved the setting up of a government Polytechnic College at Obulavanipalli in Kadapa district, with one principal, ten lecturers and 11 administrative staff, at yearly expenditure of Rs 62.40 lakh. Besides, the State Board of Technical Education and Training is also considering giving permission to another 11 polytechnic colleges in near future and these new colleges likely offer as many as 3,000 seats to facilitate the students to pursue the a few courses in Polytechnic.
TCG: Do you have any plans to introduce new courses?
A. We are planning to introduce only computers in all courses of polytechnic. Approximately, the many colleges are offering 29 in Diploma and Post Diploma courses in Polytechnic under the CEEP.
TCG: When will you plan to release the results of CEEP-2008?
A. We would release the results of CEEP-2008 around second and middle of the May month.
INTERMEDIATE SECOND YEAR RESULTS:
The pass percentage this year increased to 64.13 per cent from 62.63 per cent last year and the number of students in the grade “A” also improved significantly.
As many as 3, 96,443 regular candidates cleared the exam out of the 6, 18,150 students. Performance of girl students at 66 percent was better than boys at 62 percent.
Of them, 1, 69,823 candidates got “A” grade, while 1, 39,442 secured “B” grade. In “C” grade, 66,931 candidates figured, while 20,247 passed in the “D” grade.
Krishna district topped the list with 79 percent candidates clearing the examinations followed by Ranga Reddy and Nizamabad districts that registered 72 and 71 percent respectively. Mehboobnagar district was in slightest position with 44 percent passed candidates.
The Board of Intermediate Education officials said that the second year Intermediate public advanced supplementary examinations would commence from May 21. The exams will be conducted between 2.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m.,
