The state government is expected to release the schedule for SSC and Intermediate public exams this week. Officials of the respective boards have drafted the schedule and submitted it to the government for approval.
Inter exams are likely to be held from the first week of March and SSC from the third week of March. Though there have been demands to postpone the Inter and SSC exams in view of the closure of schools and junior colleges in Telangana due to Sakala Janula Samme, the government is averse to any postponement of exams.
Minister for secondary education K. Parthasarathi held a meeting with the officials of respective boards to finalise the schedule. The minister is expected to release the schedule for both the exams simultane ously in a couple of days at Secretariat. The boards had been waiting for the government orders on the ‘list of holidays’ for the year 2012 to draft the schedule. As the government orders on the list of holidays were issued last week, the officials have now drafted the exam schedule.
The government asked the officials of respective boards to take steps to ensure that the syllabus is completed on time in the Tregion by conducting special classes on holidays. The decision to cut Sankranti vacation short in the Telangana region was taken by the government. Officials said any postponement of board exams will delay the conduct of entrance tests like Eamcet, besides affecting the students preparing for national-level competitive exams like IIT-JEE, AIEEE etc. and it is for this reason that the government is not in favour of postponing the board exams.
