Jan. 5 deadline for websites Action will be initiated against CBSE schools which fail to upload the details on their websites by Jan. 5, says the regional officer.Schools in the state affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education have failed to upload on their websites the details required by the board.
The CBSE has directed all its affiliated schools to upload details like number of students admitted, name and qualifications of faculty, fee structure, facilities provided to students and details of the managing committee. This ensures transparency and enables students and parents easy access to information.The board has sent two reminders to the schools, first in October 2010 and the other recently on December 5, but most schools have ignored the notices. The latest deadline will end on January 5.With a week left to meet the deadline, the websites of most CBSE schools still do not display the required information.Kendriya Vidyalayas, on the other hand, have been regularly updating their websites.The schools were also sent a circular directing them to prepare their annual report containing all the above mentioned information and upload the same on their websites before September 15 every year. “All schools affiliated to the board have been asked upload the specified details on their websites by January 5, 2012. Action will be initiated against schools which fail to adhere to the norms,” said R. Sundaram, regional officer, CBSE. Despite the long time given to gather the information, school managements claim that it is a difficult task and will take time.
