The State government proposes to provide 1.5 lakh jobs directly and six lakh jobs indirectly in the Information Technology sector, said IT Services Minister P. Lakshmaiah.
The Minister visited the Taksheel IT company at Madikonda village on the outskirts of the district headquarters here on Thursday. Speaking to media, he said there was a record number of 700 engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh producing more number of engineering graduates. In order to utilise the manpower and to provide employment to the graduates, the State government was drawing up plans. To give a fillip to the IT sector, the government exempted the companies from power cut and is providing sops to new investors in the sector. Plans were on to develop Tier II cities such as Anantapur, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Warangal and IT sector to provide local employment.The IT Minister said to curb the cheating of fake IT companies who were duping the innocent job seekers the government had set up a committee with three secretaries.
