Eamcet will be relegated to the history pages from 2014 with the Union ministry of human resource development announcing plans to bring in a common national engineering entrance exam for students who will be admitted to the 10+2 courses in the academic year 2012-13.
Students admitted in Intermediate courses during the last academic year 2011-12 will be the final batch of students appearing for Eamcet-2013. They will also be the last batch of 10+2 students appearing for IIT-JEE, AIEEE etc, since the ministry has decided to replace allthese multiple tests with single national entranc exam from 2014. The Medical Council o India has already annou nced it will conduct th National-Eligibility-cum Entrance Test for MBBS admissions in 2014 for stu dents who take admis sions in 10+2 courses in the academic year 2012-13 “The HRD ministry i making all efforts to con duct a national common entrance test for engi neering admissions from 2014. We are negotiatin with all the state govern ments for that purpose, said Ms Daggubat Purandeshwari, ministe of state, HRD.
