About 700 English school assistants working in Telugu medium Zilla Parishad High Schools in the district are being trained under special orientation to strengthen the language teaching so as to help the learning scenario at the SSC and Intermediate levels.Over 600 teachers have been given training since December 20 as part of the efforts by the administration to bridge the gap between SSC and Inter study in terms of language learning.
The orientation is being taken up in three spells of sessions spread over 14 working days. The final session of the first spell was organised at the ZP High School here on Tuesday in the presence of D. Manga Reddy, DIET English mobile team co-ordinator, writer-poet Venu Sankoju and M. Shankaraiah, resource person. Rajiv Vidya Mission is funding the programme.
Fifty-five teachers from Devarakonda, Chandampet, Dindi and P. A. Palli mandals attended. The speakers advised the trainees to be committed to the cause of improving the students' language standards. The programme concludes on March 19 this year.P. Nageswar Rao, principal, Government Junior College, Thungathurthy, who is a dedicated resource person of the orientation, said the aim of the exercise was to dispel fears about English language that it is not just for achieving academic excellence by a candidate, but also for acquiring the ability to confidently face real-life situations. It is intended to develop all-round personality of a candidate.
