The week began on a busy note for scores of students and their parents, as ICSE's Class X Board examinations got underway, ushering in the exam season. All focus on Monday rested on the two examination centres -Aurobindo International School, Vidyanagar, and Johnson Grammar School, Habsiguda -as students, most of them accompanied by parents, wrote the first day's papers between 11 am and 1 pm. While the CBSE exams for Class X and XII are starting on March 1, Intermediate public exams will begin the following day. SSC public exams, will be held from March 26 to April 11. All the Board exams will wind up by mid-April. About 34 lakh students in the city have registered for Class X and XII exams for various Boards this year. Of them, over 18 lakh will appear for Intermediate exams and 14 lakh for SSC exams. Of the remaining 2 lakh, the fewest are registered for ICSE exams: less than 5,000 for Class X, and less than 500 for Class XII in the city. Nearly 20,000 students have registered for CBSE Class X exams, while just about 5,000 will appear for Class XII exams.
