Girls have outperformed boys and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) excelled over all other schools in Hyderabad city in the CBSE Class XII exam results released on Monday Maintaining the highest pass percentage in the city, 17 out of 35 KVs in the Hyderabad region saw all their students make the cut. The overall pass percentage in the KVs is 97.5, an increase of more than 2.5 per cent over last year.
Meanwhile, 90.49 per cent girls who took the CBSE Board exam have passed, while the pass percentage is 85.68 for boys. Of 2,397 girls who wrote the papers, 2,169 passed, while 3,291 of 3,841 boys passed. The overall pass percentage in Andhra Pradesh is 87.53, lower than the Chennai region's average of 90.59, comprising 10 states and the Union Territories.
Mr S.M. Saleem, deputy commissioner, KV Sangathan, Hyderabad region, stated: “Of 1,530 students who took the exams from KVs, 1,491 have passed, and 34 were placed in compartmental category. Only five students have failed.” Nikhita Punjabi and Pranav Goel, of P. Obul Reddy Public School, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, secured 96.4 per cent marks each in the commerce stream. Nivetha Iyer from Obul Reddy School got 93.6 per cent in the science
stream, while Goel got 100 per cent in maths.
Of the 95 students from Obul Reddy School who took the exams, 46 secured the “distinction”, 15 got first division and one student secured second division. Lepakshi Bindra, of Meridian School, Banjara Hills, secured 96 per cent in the science stream, while Krishna Jain got 95 per cent overall. All the 18 students in the science stream and 22 in the commerce stream cleared the exam from Meridian School. M. Venkat Rama Mukunda, of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Public School, Jubilee Hills, has secured 88.8 per cent in the science stream.
Crucially, two of his schoolmates, Apur Agarwal and Harshitha Jaiswal, got 86.8 and 83.6 per cent respectively.
