The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), scheduled on May 31 has been postponed to June 1 on account of the ‘Bharat Bandh’ on May 31, called by Opposition parties to protest the recent hike in petrol prices. Over 5 lakh candidates have applied for the TET, which will be held in 1,844 centres.
In all, 70,827 candidates have applied for Paper-I to be eligible to teach Classes VI to VIII, and 4,29,561 have registered for Paper-II, which will qualify them to teach Classes I to V. There was a concern that the bandh could cripple transport services, and candidates had sought its postponement.
