The AP High Court on Tuesday expressed its displeasure on nonminority unaided private medical colleges filling up their management quota seats under Category ‘C’ in violation of prescribed rules and its directions.
Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy, hearing a plea by G. Pranavanadha Goud and other aspirants of ‘C’ category seats in private medical colleges in the state, directed the NTR University of the Health Sciences to strictly adhere to the rules and the earlier set of directions spelt out by a Division Bench of the court.
The petitioners told the court that the managements of private colleges were violating the procedure prescribed under the AP Educational Institutional (Regulation of Admission and Prohibition of Capitation Fees) Act 1983 and AP Unaided Non Minority Professional Institutions (Regulation of Admission into under-graduate medical and dental professional courses) Rules 2007.
The petitioners told the court that none of the colleges have followed any of the said procedures.
When approached, some college managements gave evasive replies stating that seats had already been filled up while some refused to even entertain their queries. Some of the colleges did not even allow access to the concerned authorities.
They blamed the director of medical education and the University of having failed to police the erring private managements, particularly those who claimed that all seats had been filled up.Justice Reddy directed the college managements to submit the list of the candidates to the University for its approval after following the due process prescribed.
