The OU academic audit teams carried out inspection of all colleges in May and June following complaints from students and parents.Osmania University has cracked the whip on 75 affiliated degree colleges in the city citing “faculty deficit”.
It has barred these colleges from making fresh admissions for this academic year (2012-13) unless the colleges recruit faculty and immediately rectify the deficiencies pointed out by the OU inspection committees. Several prominent colleges figure on the list, which was posted on the OU website, http://www.osmania.ac.in.
This is the first time that OU has acted tough with affiliated colleges that failed to meet the norms on faculty and infrastructure. The OU academic audit teams carried out an inspection of all the colleges through May and June and identified 75 colleges that failed to meet the norms following largescale complaints from students and parents. OU officials clarified that these colleges could make fresh admissions this year provided they rectify the deficiencies and seek approval from the varsity.
