Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has asked officials to provide citizens, particularly employees of IT companies and those residing in the vicinity of the venues of global biodiversity conference, with alternative routes.
He said this while reviewing the arrangements for COP-11 with Central and state government officials. The Conference on Biodiversity will be held in the city from October 1 to 19, at HICC. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will participate as chief guest on October 17 and the Union environment minister will also be attending the event. More than 8,000 delegates from 193 countries are expected to participate. A commemorative stamp is also likely to be released on the occasion. The CM said whatever works are being taken up for city beautification should be of permanent nature.
Officials informed him that the police department, in consultation with UN department of safety and security, has prepared a security and traffic plan. The state has released `253.50 crore to 12 departments besides meeting the balance `203.50 crore from its internal budget out of the total requirement of `456 crore. AP has also allotted 15 acre in APIIC layout, Gachibowli, for setting up a Biodiversity Museum and Park.
