Engineering spot admissions from Nov. 5
Posted on : 27-10-2012 Source : Hyderabad : The Hindu

Over one lakh vacant seats will be available for spot admissions in engineering and pharmacy colleges to be held from November 5 to 20.

Details of vacancies will be displayed on ‘http://apeamcet.nic.in’ for the convenience of the candidates by 6 p.m. on November 5. Students, who wish to cancel the present allotment have to approach the Help Line Centres before November 2 and thereafter for any cancellation, candidates have to approach the college where they have been allotted a seat. Whether the colleges will insist on payment of the full fee to give its consent or charge some penal fee will be an issue students have to deal with. Officials, however, said that unless colleges give permission, seats will not be cancelled as students are now their property. Observers will also be deputed in colleges wherever it is felt necessary to ensure that transparency and merit are being followed. Some top colleges also have vacancies arising out of the internal sliding, and majority of the students will be eyeing those seats. In few top colleges, seats are vacant in new branches that are not so popular with students.

However, officials expect poor response to the process as candidates have to first cancel their admission in the allotted college and then apply for spot admissions in individual colleges. There is a likelihood of admission being lost if candidates don’t get a seat during spot admissions to be done as per merit.

The Admissions Camp Officer, K. Raghunath said that in respect of “single digit” admission colleges, permission has been given to adjust the candidates in other colleges. In such cases, both the colleges have to submit the “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) and also representations from the candidates to that effect. Such admissions made will be approved by the Convenor after a thorough check only.

Meanwhile, confusion prevails over whether fee reimbursement scheme would be applicable for candidates admitted during spot admissions. Though the Deputy Chief Minister, Damodar Rajanarsimha has assured to look into the issue, officials made it clear that they got instructions to go ahead with the process as per last year. An official said that candidates who are admitted now with the fee reimbursement benefit will be denied the same if they move to a new college during spot admissions.

ICET-2012

Similarly, vacancies in respect of ICET-2012 after conclusion of final phase will be handed over to the college managements and they have to conduct “spot admissions” before November 20. The vacancies will be displayed on the website ‘http://apicet.nic.in’ on November 10.

For cancellation of present allotment students should approach Help Line Centres before Nov. 2

Later, candidates should approach the college where they have been allotted a seat
