Union minister of state for HRD M. Pallam Raju on Saturday said that “human values and professional ethics” will soon be made part of curriculum in all the universities.Speaking at the second International conference on Human Values in Higher Education at IIITHyderabad, he said that the inculcation of values is important for students in order to apply their knowledge in the right direction. “Institutions such as IIIT-Hyd, IIT-Kanpur and Punjab Technical University have already introduced human values and professional ethics as part of curriculum and the results are encouraging. We want to extend the same to all the institutes of higher learning soon. However, the teachers need to be trained first on how to impart value-based education in these days of marketdriven education,” Mr Raju remarked. He said the UMHRD is planning to conduct training programmes for teachers on imparting value-based education to students in a phased-manner.
