NAGPUR: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), known for its initiatives in digitizing the process of its interaction with schools, is pressing on aggressively with its digital push. Just last week the board released details of the various e-initiatives it has taken during the last couple of years. The recent addition to its digital portfolio is allowing external examiners for std XII to upload the marks award list directly to the server.
Thanks to CBSE's digital campaign chools can generate and download question papers for all exams (except std X & XII board) at the click of button, marks are being uploaded online for almost everything with the recent facility of allowing even externals to do the same.
Rama Sharma, CBSE's PRO, said, "The board has leveraged the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to provide state of the art facilities to the stakeholders worldwide. Around 17,000 schools have been brought under the ambit of the digital programme of CBSE. The switch over from manual to technology driven system has led to prompt access, retrieval and increased responsiveness. The benefits in terms of time, energy, manpower and finances are visible and appropriate for this unique initiative of the board."
As for the ICT implementation, the board has switched on to complete online pre and post-examination management system for std X and XII along with the competitive exams it conducts. The board also has Online Registration System (std IX and XI), data collection , question papers for summative assessments, online rechecking and re-evaluation. Recently, online authentication of CBSE Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) has also been initiated.
The board has launched user friendly web based features under E-CBSE where in schools can generate roll numbers for main exam and make corrections in the particulars, upload photos using the existing ID and passwords. Subject change however at this stage is not allowed. Schools and centres will receive exam related material including admit cards pertaining to approximately 25 lakh std X and XII students. Schools can also upload internal subject assessment grades of std XII online in respect of approximately 12 lakh candidates with three internal subjects each. Apart from being an environment friendly move ,the facility will save time and increase accuracy. This will also facilitate smooth and timely compilation of resultslater.
For the first time the examiners appointed for practical exams will be able to convey their consent online. However, this facility will be available to those under the jurisdiction of CBSE Regional Office Dehradun, as of now. It is also for the first time that the practical examiners will be able to upload the practical and projects marks of std XII instead of filling up manual award lists. Schools will also be able to download their admit cards and if selected as an examination centre , the attendance sheet, list of candidates including private candidates can also be downloaded by the school at the click of a button.
The online facility is being provided to private candidates as well whereby, they can submit application form for std X and XII board examination 2016 online instead of manual procedure. Private candidates can also generate online admit cards and centre intimation letters.
