Hyderabad : Minorities Welfare Department plans to conduct free classes for those preparing for competitive exams and studies abroad
The Minorities Welfare Department has unveiled plans to coach students so that they can crack the highly competitive IELTS/GRE and other exams that are required for pursuing studies abroad.
The Telangana State Minority Study Circle (TSMSC), formed last year for providing coaching for competitive examinations to minorities, will be conducting free classes for students appearing for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
“Around 500 students will be trained free of cost for the test. Classes will be held in different batches. We are planning to conduct the classes at the Haj House building at Nampally and expert trainers for the programme will be roped in,” In-charge Director TSMSC, B. Shafiullah told The Hindu .
The Minorities Welfare Department has already started ‘Overseas Study Scheme for Minorities’ last year. To qualify for the scheme, the students have to clear to clear IELTS and GRE.
“Private institutions charge between Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 8,000 for coaching. We have received representations from several persons, including underprivileged families to organise free coaching for the test. After obtaining clearance from higher officials we are doing it,” an official informed.
The TSMSC will also be providing free study material to the students. If there is a demand for separate classes for girl students that too will be organised, Mr. Shafiullah said. The classes are expected to begin from the first week of March.
The TSMSC was formed to provide coaching candidates appearing for Telangana State Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission, Railway Recruitment Board, bank probation officer examination, UPSC Central Services recruitment, Armed Forces recruitment and competitive examinations for PSUs, paramilitary, police, engineer recruitment among others.
