HYDERABAD:Carbon copies of OMR to be given for engg. candidates
The Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) is considering making the medical test of EAMCET online, though a final decision has not been taken so far.
It is exploring the possibilities, including technical and logistical issues involved. Around 75,000 students are expected to take the medical test this year and whether sufficient centres with fool-proof measures can be provided is a question.
Moreover, the centres may also have to be reduced and students might have to opt for main cities.
“We are studying the intricacies involved in it,” said the TSCHE Chairman T. Papi Reddy.
Meanwhile, students appearing for the Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) can take home a carbon copy of the OMR sheet along with the question paper booklet. The finer aspects of introducing this facility are being finalised by a committee of the (TSCHE), and it will be the first of its kind if introduced.
Prof. Reddy said that carbon copy of the OMR sheet will be generated for students to detach it from the main OMR sheet and take home.
The same may be scanned at the centre itself so that students may not tamper it and make false claims after the results.
The committee will suggest the steps to be taken in this regard.
The test will be held on May 2 and the notification is being issued on February 25. Engineering test will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and medical test from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Results will be declared on May 12. Fee for SC and ST candidates is Rs. 250 and Rs. 500 for others.
Aping the TSPSC, the TSCHE has also decided to opt for biometric attendance of the candidates to plug loopholes of misuse and impersonation, which is likely in the medical test given the previous experiences.
Candidates can submit online applications from February 28 to March 28.
Applications can be submitted with a fine of Rs. 500 till April 3, till April 13 with a fine of Rs. 1,000 and till April 22 with a fine of Rs. 5,000. They can be submitted till April 29 with a late fee of Rs. 10,000.
