VIJAYAWADA : Elaborate arrangements have been made by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) for the smooth conduct of Post-Graduate Medical Entrance Test–2016 on February 28. It is a common on-line examination for candidates of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for admission to post-graduate degree and diploma courses for 2016-17.
The examination will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 55 centres in the two States. A total of 2,533 seats (1,860 under the convener quota, 666 in the non-service quota, 667 in service and 673 in management quotas) will be filled.
NTRUHS Vice-Chancellor T. Ravi Raju stated in a press release that the 13,618 applications were received and hall tickets issued to 13,603 eligible candidates. Andhra University region has 15 centres (5 in Visakhapatnam, 4 in Guntur and 3 each in Vijayawada and Rajahmundry). Sri Venkateswara University has 12 centres (5 in Tirupati, 3 in Kurnool and 2 each in Nellore and Anantapur) and Osmania University has 28 centres (22 in Hyderabad, 3 in Warangal, 2 in Karimnagar and 1 in Khammam).
In view of the bitter experience of 2014 when a question paper leak created a major controversy leading to arrest of over 40 persons, including students and middlemen, the NTRUHS took necessary precautions to prevent any untoward incident.
Though the test has been made online last year, instructions were issued to do thorough frisking of candidates to eliminate the scope for malpractice using electronic gadgets. Candidates will be basically not allowed to enter the examination centres after 9.15 a.m.
They have to carry only original hall tickets and identity cards. Photostat copies have to be submitted to the invigilators.
Books, notepads, calculators, mobile phones, watches (both analog and digital), purses and any other articles will not be permitted to be taken into the examination halls.
Hall tickets have to be preserved for submitting during counselling.
