30,000 more students to take EAMCET this year

Over 30,000 more students would appear for EAMCET on April 29 this year taking the total number of students appearing for the test to 2,92,322 in the State, A.P. EAMCET Regional Coordinator B. Sreenivasa Reddy said in Kurnool on Monday.
In all, 1,89,159 students would appear for engineering and 1,03,163 for medicine in 494 centres, Mr. Reddy, who is principal of G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College, told the media. In addition, 52 centres were set up in Telangana, all in Hyderabad, to enable A.P. students in Telangana to take the test, he added.
Giving a gender break-up, he said 1,14,347 boys and 74,912 girls would appear for engineering stream and 36,288 boys and 65,694 girls for medicine stream.
In Kurnool, engineering aspirants would take the test in 16 centres and medicine aspirants in 15 centres. Incidentally all the 36 Urdu medium candidates appearing for EAMCET in the State would take the test in G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College, Mr. Sreenivasa Reddy said.
The caste-wise break-up of the candidates was 1,11,709 from OC, 26,901 of BC A category, 40,319 (BC-B), 2,874 (BC-C), 42,794 (BC- D) and 14,706 (BC-E), 41,683 (SC) and 11,336 (ST) category, he said. Engineering aspirants would appear for the test from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and medicine aspirants from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. The candidates should reach the exam centres one hour in advance and they would be denied entry even if they were late by a minute, he said. Candidates are barred from wearing wristwatches and each exam centre would have a wall clock to indicate time, the regional coordinator said.
Besides the hall-ticket, the candidates should carry a copy of their online application by affixing a photograph and getting it attested by a gazetted officer or principal of their institution. SC/ST candidates should get a copy of the caste certificate duly attested by a gazetted officer, Mr. Reddy said.
Only black or blue ink ballpoint pens should be used. The students should check their name, hall-ticket number and photograph printed on the OMR sheets and should ask the invigilator to replace it in case of wrong entry of details or if the sheets were torn, he said.
Those found copying or carrying cell phones, blue tooth devices or other electronic gadgets into the exam centres would be dealt with severely, the regional coordinator warned.
