The cost of medical and dental education is set to skyrocket in private colleges in Karnataka. The fee will go up — ranging from 27 per cent to 41 per cent — for government-quota seats in private medical colleges and COMEDK-quota seats.
This is the steepest hike seen in recent years in medical education. The government was under intense pressure from private medical colleges to increase the fee. They had threatened that they would not release about 700 seats each in medical and dental streams into the government quota if their demand for fee hike was not met.
