Leakage of medicine paper may not be confined just to Telangana and the accused could have attempted the same in several other States in the country.
Going by the modus operandi of the accused, it is possible that they might have also made similar attempts in other States, a senior official said. In those States, medical college entrance exams are not as emotionally connected with students and parent communities as they are in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Police are believed to have come across certain revelations during interrogation that point towards such a possibility. “When their whole effort is to make money why would they confine only to Telangana where the systems are much more fool-proof compared to other States,” an official said.
Police are now focussing on how the accused had identified location of the printing press and if any of the printer’s employee was also involved. Officials say there is every possibility of the gang tracking the movement of the Eamcet Convenor, N.V. Ramana Rao and the Co-Convenor, Vishwanath employing their own men at various airports and the hotels they stay during their visit. The Convenor and Co-Convenor maintain high level secrecy to the extent that they don’t even inform their family members of their whereabouts for a few days when they go to the printer to share the question paper. The accused could have also tracked the mobile phones of officials to know the location though they don’t use their regular phones while on the printing mission. The questions are also written on a paper physically to avoid possibility of leakage. It is said the convenor and co-convenor are not shown the printing press as the printer visits them at a designated place to secure the questions and later brings the typed questions for final proof-reading. The printer is supposed to ensure that all questions are not typed by a single person.
