Vaishnavi was bubbling with joy and a sense of achievement till a few days ago but the developments over the last few days is making her weep. The very mention of Eamcet is making her so emotional that her parents are unable to console her.
Similarly, Meghana too was in celebration mood till the other day partying with cousins and friends but now seems to have gone into a shell. The twists and turns in Eamcet-II leakage and the fear of exam being cancelled is sending several rankers into a state of dejection. Households with medical aspirants have turned into places of despair even as parents are having a harrowing time trying to cope with their wards downcast at home.
“They worked hard for two years but they face uncertainty due to the fault of others. This is not fair,” said B. Shankar, a practising doctor in Armoor, whose daughter, Vaishnavi secured 1,094th rank.
“I have seen my daughter toil and it’s painful to see her crying now,” said R. Srinivas, a doctor from Nizamabad, whose daughter Meghana secured 1800th rank. “This is not my feeling alone but also hundreds of parents must be experiencing the same pain,” he said unable to control his emotions. Eamcet is an emotional issue not only for students and parents but also their kith and kin. “Another exam is now sought to be thrust upon students after they had already written four exams – NEET, AP Eamcet, TS Eamcet-I and TS-Eamcet-II. This is outrageous,” argued a parent, joining the chorus of those opposing a re-test. Teachers and students counsellors also caution the parents and elders to keep a close watch on the affected students. “The teenagers are feeling cheated and are under a lot of stress. Parents should spend time with them,” said C. Veerender, a psychologist. He asks parents to infuse positive thoughts and give them the necessary confidence of writing the test again if it is conducted again.
