The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK) is soon going to get accreditations from the NAAC and the NBA, according to V.S.S. Kumar, Vice-chancellor of the University.
Announcing this during the eighth formation day celebrations of the university here on Monday, Prof. Kumar said plans were afoot to sponsor foreign education of meritorious students from the university and its affiliated colleges. “The State government has chalked out a plan to sponsor foreign education of students who secured 75 per cent and above marks in B.Tech and fared well in GRE and TOEFL. As many as 15 students from the JNTUK and 10 students from the affiliated colleges will be sent in the first batch,” he said, adding that Rs. 1.25 crore had been sanctioned by the government for the programme.
Stating that the university achieved significant growth in the last eight years, the Vice-chancellor said that the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development sanctioned Rs. 10 crore to the JNTUK for setting up the Design Innovation Centre. He congratulated the head of Biotechnology Department Ramesh Malothu for conducting valuable research work and obtaining patents for it. “He has brought laurels to the JNTUK. The other faculty members too need to focus on research in their areas concerned,” he said.
Registrar Ch. Saibabu said that the JNTUK had achieved transparency in conducting the examinations and also made arrangements for hassle-free distribution of certificates to students.
