Hyderabad: Scores of aspirants for Bachelor of Education colleges have been waiting for a long time for the start of the second phase of counselling in state colleges.

It’s been two months since first-year classes commenced with candidates filled from the first phase of counselling. Even colleges are waiting for authorities to complete the admission formalities. Nearly 10,000 convener quota seats in mathematics, physical and biological sciences, social studies and English in 199 colleges are on offer.

Mr Michael Thomson, whose daughter is seeking admission into a B.Ed course appealed to authorities to announce the dates for the second phase at the earliest. Convener P. Prasad said that the delay was due to legal issues in the High Court pertaining to new colleges. “We will be releasing the notification once the decks are cleared,” he said.

BEd Colleges Association president S. Prabhakar Reddy was critical of the the higher education department for the delay. “Students, parents and even college administrations are inconvenienced for no fault of theirs,” he said.
