HYDERABAD: The CBSE has made Aadhaar mandatory for candidates writing JEE-2017 for admissions into BTech courses at IITs, NITs and IIITs. TS candidates have no reason to worry as junior colleges collect Aadhaar details at the time of admission and send all details online to the Intermediate Board.
“Almost all students studying in the affiliated colleges will have Aadhaar cards due to the Board of Intermediate Education directions. They need not go around for enrollment," Mr Narender Reddy, senior lecturer in a state affiliated private college said. Nearly 1.3 lakh students, most of them from state-affiliated corporate and private colleges, take the JEE every year.
Dr P. Ananda Raman, director at FIIT JEE-Hyderabad, stated that Plus-2 students in CBSE schools were informed to keep Aadhaar details ready. He said there were fewer than 6,000 students doing Class 12 in CBSE schools.
CBSE will be issuing notification for JEE-2017 on December 1. The last date to register is expected to be January 2, and the exam is scheduled for April 2.
