KAKINADA: The state government is likely to hold AP Eamcet-2017 in April online as Intermediate examinations will be completed by March 2017. To conduct the examination online, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTU-K), which will conduct the examination, is scouting agencies for making software and preparing examination papers.

According to sources, as many as five prominent agencies have come forward. A decision will be taken on Tuesday when the government will discuss the exam pattern and decide exam date.

The software agency will be confirmed through tender process. The previous history of the company, its caliber and efficiency, goodwill and other qualities will be given much importance in choosing the agency.

Officials said BDS and Medicine examination will not be included in Eamcet-2017 as those students should go for NEET. The AP Eamcet-2017 will be conducted for veterinary, homeopathy and Ayurvedic and engineering courses.

The officials expected nearly 2 lakh student candidates for engineering courses, and 40,000 to 50,000 students for medicine courses. The officials felt the examination may be conducted in four batches in a day. It is learnt that there was no need for printing presses for publishing the question papers.

After preparing the question paper, the agency and the JNTU-K should take responsibility for it and the students would be given password before commencement of the examination for their question paper.
