HYDERABAD: The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) in Telangana has decided to hold practical exams for senior Intermediate students only in colleges equipped with CCTV (closed circuit television) facilities. Instructions have been given to all private colleges to install surveillance cameras or lose the chance to host practicals.
Dr. A. Ashok, Secretary, BIE, said that they are now scouting for test centres having CCTVs installed in their laboratories. "Of the 2700 junior colleges, we want 1300 centres to conduct practicals from February 1 to 20. Over 90 per cent of the examination venues have been identified. Almost all the government junior colleges have security devices in place," he said.
The aim is to control the irregular activities of corporate colleges. Although Intermediate marks weightage has been removed for the Joint Entrance Exam, the marks are still important in deciding EAMCET ranking.
