City - based educational consultancy Storm organises the fair
Majority of students are from engineering and management streams
VIJAYAWADA: The Australian Education Fair organised at Hotel D.V. Manor here on Saturday witnessed good response from the students. The organisers were particularly pleased with the response from the students of engineering and management studies from colleges and institutions located in and around the city. Though the recent incidents Down Under have given rise to doubts about the safety of Indian students, those who turned up for the fair evinced interest in accessing educational chances in that country.
Second destination
Representatives of 11 universities and colleges conducted interviews and offered spot admissions to eligible candidates. Representatives of the James Cook, Victoria and other universities explained in detail about the measures being taken for the safety and security of Indian students Down Under.
Storm, the city-based educational consultancy that organised the fair, asserted that the good response was proof enough to show that Australia was the second best destination for higher education as far as the aspirations of Indian students were concerned.
Storm India operations director P. Srinivasa Reddy said that the fair was immensely successful as all good students from various colleges attended the counselling and explored their chances for spot admissions. It was a comforting thing for the students who were enthusiastic about trying Australia for educational opportunities, to be assured about the safety of Indian students in the wake of apprehensions.
Storm local representative N.Vinay Kumar said that a special session was held to clear doubts of students about the security measures they would have to follow once they land in Australia for higher education.
Most of the students came from engineering colleges and they preferred to take admission into MS Computer Science, telecommunications, electronics and other courses. There were also a good number of students seeking admission into manageent courses.
Mr. Vinay Kumar said enquiries about the courses available for pharmacy students in Australia were also received and the foreign representatives explained the benefits of studying pharmacy over there.
