GUNTUR: The Acharya Nagarjuna University Registrar has instituted an inquiry committee into the alleged involvement of a staff member of the university’s Centre for Distance Education in obtaining two hall tickets for writing Bachelor of Arts examination.
While the incident took place about 10 days ago, it came to light late and Ongole P.G. Centre Director Rangaiah has been appointed to probe into the whole issue, which involves impersonation allegedly by some research scholars of the university for this person.
While it is understood that the staff member of the CDE had written one of the examination papers himself at Giddalur, he had distributed the question papers to various centres as part of his duty and did not write other papers himself, but employed some of his relatives/friends to complete them.
According to the UGC Act and APSCHE Rules, an employee resorting to such acts of misappropriation of money or power could be dismissed from service and also imposed penalty.
The next round of inquiry by the committee is likely to be held on Tuesday next and only then the final report would be submitted by then Vice-Chancellor Y.R. Haragopal Reddy will return from his two-week personal visit to United States.
