VISAKHAPATNAM: Pro Vice-Chancellor of GITAM University G. Subrahmanyam has assumed charge as Vice-Chancellor of the university here on Tuesday.

Prof. Subrahmanyam took over from the outgoing Vice-Chancellor M. Gangadhara Rao. Prof. Subrahmanyam is an experienced academician. He worked in various important positions in Andhra University like Registrar, principal, Executive Council Member, Coordinator of SAAP, Chairman of the Review Committee on Accounting Systems & Procedures (1993), Nodal Officer for X Plan UGC Visiting Committee, Dean of Commerce and Management Studies, Chairman of PG Board of Studies and acted as Convener for different entrance tests in AU. He received Ph.D. from Andhra University in 1977 and has four books to his credit. He has also undertaken 22 minor research schemes and two major research projects. He guided 30 Ph.Ds and three M.Phils.
