THE Tamil Nadu Educational Trust has announced scholarships for 2009-10.

At a meeting attended by educationaists and government officials, including Dr M A M Ramasamy, MP, K Ganesan, principal secretary, higher education department, Dr S V Chittibabu, the Trust announced 375 fresh scholarships, besides 654 renewal scholarships. The total amount of scholarship is Rs 46,45,470.

Meritorious and economically backward students doing their first-year degree/ PG courses in arts and science and professional courses in the State are eligible to ap p ly. T h e y m u s t h ave passed the qualifying examination in first class and their parents/guardians' income must not exceed Rs 50,000 per annum and they must not be receipt of any other scholarships.

Students who have been granted scholarships for the first year are eligible for renewal of the scholarship.

Applicants may write to the honorary secretary, The Tamil Nadu Educational Trust, Annamalai Building Annexe, Rukmini Lakshmipathy Road, Egmore, Chennai, for the application form. The last date for issuing the form is October 31 and the deadline for submitting the filled-in application is November 11.
