Work to be completed in two years
Khammam likely to get funds to the tune of Rs. 1,000 crores
KHAMMAM: The Government of India has accorded sanction of Rs. 206.77 crores as non-recurring grant-in-aid for construction of 42 ashram schools in Khammam district, according to district Collector V. Usharani.
In an official release issued here on Tuesday, she said that each of the ashram schools would have 100 seats for tribal boys and girls. The funds were sanctioned as part of the additional central assistance for educational development of tribal children in Schedule V area and naxalite-affected areas.
As per norms, the construction of the ashram schools should be completed within the stipulated time of two years and the works would be grounded next month. The schools would be constructed at the places already identified and the location should not be changed without the prior approval of the Government of India. The administration was prompt in proposing the new schools at the required places. Khammam district had got indication for sanction of about Rs. 1000 crores under the various programmes for implementation of the developmental programmes in the Maoists affected tribal pockets.
