Hyderabad: Around six private schools in the city were served notices by the collector’s office on Tuesday following a complaint lodged by parents’ associations, with regard to the unreasonable fee hike. As per the notice, these schools have been asked to explain the reason for this hike and submit their clarification within the next seven days. “Schools have been questioned as to why they failed to implement the government order which directs them to roll back the hiked fee. We are awaiting their reply and will take up the matter accordingly thereafter,” said Naveen Mittal, district collector, Hyderabad.
The collector was approached by several aggrieved parents on January 11, after the Niraj Public School management sent out letters asking protesting parents to collect their kids’ transfer certificates by March 31. The school, in the letter, had stated that it would not admit these students in the new academic year of the school beginning June 2010.
Members of various parents’ associations had urged the collector to look into the matter and put an end to this harassment by school authorities.
The schools that received this notice on Tuesday, include Niraj Public School, Meridian School, Glendale Academy, Chirec Public School, Princess Esin Girls High School and Mukkaram Jah High School.
