TIRUCHI: About 97,000 jobs would be on offer from 443 companies at a three-day job fair to be organised in Tiruchi from February 26 by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam as part of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s 86th birthday celebration. About 1.25 lakh candidates have registered for the fair through camps held across the district recently and about a lakh of them attended the orientation camp.
The fair is to be held on the premises of St. Joseph’s College. Leading companies from IT, automobile, banking, manufacturing and service sectors including Infosys, TCS, WIPRO, Sutherland, Cognizant, Polaris, Nokia, Hyundai and MRF had confirmed their participation, said K.N. Ramajayam, one of the local coordinators while briefing reporters. Several local companies, including members of the BHEL Small Scale Industries Association, would also participate in the fair. Recruitment would be made under three categories: Group A for graduates, postgraduates, including engineering/technology candidates; Group B for ITI and diploma holders and D.Pharm and catering technology candidates; and Group C for candidates with VIII to Plus 2 qualifications for positions such as assistants, drivers and tailors.
Final-year students would be allowed to participate under Group A. Recruitment of candidates under Group A would be held on February 26, for Group B candidates on February 27 and for Group C candidates the following day.
