STED will establish student chapters in all member colleges with a student body
HYDERABAD: The Society for Triggering Engineers Development (STED), which aims at providing a resource platform to cater to the needs of the student community, was inaugurated on Saturday at JNTU UGC-Auditorium.
STED, an initiative of three young budding engineers- Ajay Kumar, Rajashekhar Vajrala and Charan Lakkaraju was inaugurated by D.N. Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, JNTU-H.
Incidentally, STED has been endorsed by the university and has the official sanction to set up STED chapters in all JNTU-affiliated colleges.
The modus operandi of STED is to establish student chapters in all member colleges with a student body, which will conduct activities in sync with central team of STED.
Addressing the 200-odd students and principals from over 20 member colleges, Bhaskar Reddy, Prinicipal, MLR Institute of Technology said STED would serve as a premier resource platform for all the students to share the knowledge and help build industry-required skills.
Sathi Reddy, CEO, M.T. E Industries, said the initiative was an inspiring one and said it should be taken up by all engineering colleges.
T. Kishen Kumar Reddy who heads the JNTU-H Academic Audit Cell said it was sheer coincidence that STED's objectives matched those of the cell's.
“The university has taken it forward by discussing with students how it can benefit them. So far 14 colleges have set up STED chapters and 20 others have given a verbal consent,” he said.
On this occasion, Rs.5 lakh was pledged by Rajasekhar Reddy, Secretary, MLR Institute of Technology and Rs. 1 lakh by Mr. Sathi Reddy for funding the R&D activities of STED chapters.
Funds for students
Also any member student who comes up with an innovative project will be funded by MLRIT (Resources, accommodation and transport). Also an advisory board was formed with officials from university and private member colleges with the JNTU V-C acting as the mentor, the founders informed.
