The exams for general science paper-I on March 31 and for general science paper-II on April 1 have been postponed in all 410 centres located in the twin cities for which 90,687 students have registered their names.
The government, on Monday, had postponed the
exam slated for Tuesday only in curfew-bound areas of the old city.
However, the decision led to an uproar as several students who were allotted centres in non-curfew areas but live in curfew-bound areas failed to appear for the exam as they could not come out of their houses.
“The security of students is important. For that reason, we have decided to postpone the exams for two days,” said the commissioner and director of school education, Ms Poonam Malakondaiah.
The SSC exams for the remaining papers to be held between April 3 and April 8 will be held as per schedule if the situation in the city improves. A decision on further postponement will be taken on April 2 after the law and order situation is reviewed.
