NELLORE: The process of handing over the colleges, located in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, to Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) from Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) has begun on Thursday.
At a meeting held with SVU officials in Tirupati today, VSU Vice-Chancellor C.R. Visweswara Rao and Registrar V. Narayana Reddy discussed over the modalities on taking the colleges from SVU as per the government orders.
SVU Vice-Chancellor N. Prabhakar Rao, Registrar J. Prabhakar Reddy, Deputy Registrar Guru Rajarao, Dean (College Development Council) M.Usha Rani and others attended the meeting.
The A.P. State Council of Higher Education recently released a GO providing affiliating status to VSU and asked the SVU management to hand over the colleges which are running under its jurisdiction in Nellore district to the new university.
As per the orders, about 110 degree, post-graduate, B.Ed, professional, law and oriental colleges will come to VSU fold from 2010-11.
Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Prabhakar Rao said issues like constitution of Board of Studies, syllabus, Examinations Board, affiliation fee and other matters were discussed in the meeting.
The management will soon address letters to all college managements to fulfil the obligations of VSU, said Mr. Rao.
Registrar Narayana Reddy said the VSU will hold a meeting with the correspondents and principals of all the institutions soon.
The college managements should submit the information relating to college establishments, ownership, courses being offered, specialisations, affiliation fee, students strength particulars, and faculty position (regular and contract), he said.
