NALGONDA: Development of infrastructure, smooth transition of affiliated colleges in the district from the jurisdiction of Osmania University to the purview of Mahatma Gandhi University among other issues prominently figured during the deliberations at a district-level meeting of principals and correspondents of various colleges held here on Monday.
Representatives from as many as 157 colleges including undergraduate, post-graduate, MBA, MCA, education, pharmacy, law and oriental colleges from all over the district participated in the meeting held at the University College, Mahatma Gandhi University, at Panagal.
Responding to the pleas made by the university authorities for adequate funds for infrastructure development, Minister for Information Technology Komatireddy Venkat Reddy promised to get Rs. 10 crore from the government for a permanent building of the university, which was under construction near Anneparthi, next month.
Role model
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Reddy said the three-year old university had become a model for the rest of the newer universities in the State owing to the sustained efforts of the university authorities, faculty and students.
“The new building of the university will be ready for inauguration in two or three months,” the Minister pointed out.
Nalgonda MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy emphasised the need for recruitment of meritorious candidates with requisite teaching aptitude for faculty positions in a transparent manner.
University Vice-Chancellor V. Gangadhar called upon the participants to contribute their mite for moulding the young university into a seat of higher learning.
