TIRUPATI: Students of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) now can access the internet at an unbelievable speed of 10 Mbps, thanks to the bandwidth connectivity established by BSNL. The facility enables the entire campus, including the hostels, engineering block and the departments to access the internet round the clock free of cost. Students having the latest mobile gizmos can even surf the net using the related accessories.
Vice-Chancellor G. Sarojamma inaugurated the Campus Networking facility at the computer centre on Monday, which was developed with a grant of Rs. 58 crore provided by the UGC under the XI Plan General Development Fund. She described it as a 'wonderful opportunity' for the students to access literature and enhance their research potential, but however, cautioned them to avoid landing in trouble by misusing technology. The facility will also pave the way for online transmission of circulars and office correspondence, thus making the campus go paperless at a later stage.
Dr. Jyoti, head of the Computer Science wing, advised the researchers to access e-journals to expand their knowledge base. Registrar E. Manju Vani was also present.
