HYDERABAD: Six candidates have been denied admission to medical colleges till the third day of the counselling for being underage as the admission process continues to haunt several toppers of EAMCET this year.
While plea of three candidates were turned down in JNTU Hyderabad centre, two were unlucky in Vijayawada and one in Tirupati. All of them were born, as per official records, after January 1, 1994 and were not given admissions citing guidelines of Medical Council of India (MCI). Similar incidents were reported last year too.
Among the ‘unlucky' candidates are Ch. Revathi, who secured 40 {+t} {+h} rank and R. Jayasree who got 1,429th rank. Interestingly, these candidates submitted fresh certificates with dates of birth changed very well knowing that their earlier dates would not be valid.
However, officials took into consideration the date of birth registered in the SSC certificates only.
NTR University of Health Sciences Registrar T. Venugopala Rao said they were just following the MCI guidelines. Norms with regard to date of birth were clearly mentioned in the EAMCET notification as well as the counselling admission notification.
