MACHILIPATNAM: Krishna University has denied the reports that the Department of Higher Education cancelled the affiliating university status given to it.
The University Registrar said in a statement on Tuesday that some people were intentionally misinterpreting the information provided by the Department of Higher Education about affiliation. “As per the University's Act 1991, all the colleges of Krishna district are affiliated to Krishna University. The educational institutions and educationists shall keep these facts in mind,” the Registrar said.
Meeting held
He said that the university had fulfilled the requirements suggested by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) and started executing the affiliation procedure. It conducted a meeting with principals of affiliated colleges on May 31, in which important issues related to academic calendar, affiliation fee, curriculum framework, setting up of an examination cell and establishment of a board of studies were discussed. The university convened another meeting with college managements on June 26 and clarified various issues related to affiliation.
This was followed by inspections in different colleges by the dean, college developmental council, on behalf of the APSCHE for new courses. Fee was collected from colleges for recognition. The university included these colleges in the admission process and granted admissions to the students.
The university has already granted permission for additional seats for certain colleges in the district. It started executing different academic and administrative works related to the colleges under its purview, the Registrar said.
