Hyderabad: Counselling for admissions into engineering colleges will be held in the fourth week of August instead of the second week as announced earlier. Engineering classes might begin in the second week of September.
According to JNTU authorities, the counselling will be delayed as the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has not come up with a final list of the total number of new seats to be allocated for engineering colleges this year.
Meanwhile, Icet counselling for admissions into MBA and MCA courses will be held in the third week of August. According to authorities, the final list of engineering seats is supposed to be out only on August 2. “Once the final list is out we will be able to announce the counselling dates. Even the fee structure for engineering colleges will have to be decided before the counselling,” said D N Reddy, vice chancellor, JNTU.
Officials of AP State Council of Higher Education also announced the counselling dates for students who cleared PG Lawcet as August 5 and Lawcet (five-year course) as August 11.
Though the state government has decided on the percentage of convener and management quota seats in engineering colleges in the state, it is yet to decide on the fee structure. The decision on fee structure is likely to be taken after the announcement of byelection results on July 30.
The second phase of counselling for Icet, Eamcet and PGCET will be held in the second week of September. And classes for M Tech courses will begin in the first week of October.
